Description |
This election will see a new electoral law Parliament adopted on June 29, 2020 put into practice. The law stipulates that 120 deputies be elected by proportional representation, with the remaining 30 elected from single-member constituencies.
The threshold for entering Parliament was also lowered to 3%.
The date of the first meeting of the newly elected Parliament is selected by the President of Georgia, who must choose a date no later than the 10th day after election results are officially announced.
Four smaller parties were 'gifted' one extra seat each, while the top vote getter, Georgia Dream, took 13 of the 30 elected from single-member constituencies and won the remaining 17 after a run-off held on November 21, 2020 [Link]
