Brogden was nominated on the second ballot. The first ballot is shown here. Brogden received a majority on the second ballot, and the delegates shifted all other votes to him, resulting in a unanimous vote after the shifts. No newspaper carried the result of the second ballot, and the papers reported varying results of the first ballot.
