The long presidential tradition of appointing unqualified dumba**es to your cabinet for funsies!

E Pluribus Unum: Pete dropped out 4 this spot

Or, he dropped out because he had no chance of winning and endorsed the candidate most in line with his policy views. Maybe, just maybe, there isn't a grand conspiracy and Bernie and his enablers aren't actually victims?

Pete has strong communications skills and speaks many languages - he should be appointed to a high profile ambassador post like U.N., E.U., etc.

I thought there would be more objections to Buttigieg, he is looking like he will sail through quickly considering his lack of experience in the area.

If you were a Republican Senator, and wanted to make sure your objections to Cabinet nominees "counted" and got the most attention, would you want to raise a fuss about the Transportation Secretary?

Democrats during Trump's confirmations focused on nominees like Rex Tillerson and Betsy DeVos because they felt those objections would resonate. There was a reason they didn't break the glass on Ben Carson or Wilbur Ross, even though they did raise objections.

My guess is Republicans will focus on Yellin.

But Hawley is holding up fastrack on Mayorkas for DHS - so who knows. I can see Cruz and Hawley grandstanding on their own outside of a concerted Republican effort.

I could see Republicans zoning in on Mayorkas after Biden's immigration/border wall announcements. However, it's hard to mount an opposition after the committee hearing has taken place. You could get a Tucker Carlson segment..

That would be an enormous mistake. She is brilliant, experienced, and mainstream. My bet would be Becerra.

Yellin may be brilliant, but I've been waiting to see how the $7.2M in speaking fees was going to hit. [Link] I can't imagine it will be just washed over during her confirmation.

Just unanimously passed Finance. I'd be stunned if she gets fewer votes than Haines.

"You know what the hell you're talking about, and that's pretty damn refreshing," said Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., when he got a chance at the mic at Buttigieg's hearing on Thursday.

Buttigieg was advanced by the committee on a 21-3 vote.
