Description |
Dominica's Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, dissolved the House of Assembly on November 6, 2019 in preparation for elections constitutionally due by March 2020.
A deadline for filing nominations was set for November 19, 2019.
21 seats in 21 single-member constituencies are voted on directly using the first-past-the-post system. All 21 seats were fought over by only two parties - the incumbent Dominica Labour Party (DLP) led by Roosevelt Skerrit and United Workers Party (UWP) led by Lennox Linton - after The Dominica Freedom Party (DFP), under the leadership of Kent Vital, had bowed out, throwing its support behind the United Workers Party.
