Personally I think Ciattarelli would be. Nominating Doug Steinhardt would be a mistake. I still support Jon Bramnick.

I'd love to visit Hirsh Singh reality some day. I bet its an interesting place where he finishes first for every race he runs and he is extremely popular.

Lol... why do you think Ciattarelli is most competitive?

I really don't know much about any of the candidates up here except that Kean has a family name which has diminishing value and Hirsh Singh is running for yet another office.
But when NJ elects a Republican statewide, its usually because there is a weak Democrat or the Republican seems like a reasonable government reform alternative. Ciatteraelli would seem to a bit of reformer and he probably won't be the most conservative candidate in the field which might get him the Dem votes he needs to make this race competitive. My two cents.

I'll add though the task is mighty for Republican. Seems to be Murphy is getting high marks for Covid and he might be riding that wave to re-election.
Do you think that a good run by Ciattarelli is an audition for a successful 2022 Congressional Run?

Interesting thought, I doubt it but I do think that republicans have an uphill battle much more than Christie faced in 2009.

Also Murphy is unpopular among democrats. You have no idea how many of my democrat friends/family can't stand the guy. The question remains will they bite the bullet and vote for him. Murphy's popularity is also to the whims of white suburban woman in how they view his handling of it over the next few months especially if he resorts to shutdowns which may not be as popular anymore.

Jon Bramnick is the model of what a blue state republican Governor looks like. The problem for him is that New Jersey always tends to go the unconventional route in who they chose for Gov.

I'm honestly kind of surprised- I figured all the advertising he's been doing for his law firm was a way to get his name out there for some sort of campaign for higher office.

Perhaps he is more concerned about the GOP's prospect of holding onto LD 21 much longer.

Perhaps he is more concerned about the GOP's prospect of holding onto LD 21 much longer.
Could be. That general area does seem to be trending more and more Democratic; the town I grew up in was in the 21st district from 2002-2012, and while the fact that all its state and federal representatives are Democrats is at least partially due to redistricting, the mayor and council have been controlled by Democrats for a number of years now as well, which is a marked change from when I was younger.

Steinhardt is really struggling to get support, Morris, which would is pivotal for him seems to be split. Ocean is his only hope, but it may not be enough to win... he could back out to avoid a bloody and divisive primary so Ciattarelli is the presumptive nominee and so all the other nutcase Trump loving voters can support whatever tinfoil hat candidate they want...

What will Joe Piscopo do?
I forgot about him, I thought he would endorse Bramnick. Bramnick appears on his show frequently and Piscopo is amused by him. I don't see him running though. Although I changed my "endorsement" to Ciattarelli in the last week I'm disappointed Bramnick won't run. He had the best shot at taking out Murphy. He knew he'd never survive a republican primary because god forbid some idiot on facebook is offended he said mean things about Trump.

Yeh...i was kind of half joking as to me at least he seems a little out of place on this list. I figured if Republicans had to go to the Joe Piscopo well to find a candidate - then it would be a pretty hopeless year. He'd be, imho, sorta a hail mary pass type of candidate.
I'm getting really good vibes about Ciattarelli. I hope he wins this easy and can take it to Murphy in the fall.

Yes Ciattarelli has consistently been branded a never trumper due to his lack of support for him in '15/'16
