| Description |
The IMF's Managing Director, Christine Lagarde, resigned effective September 12, 2019 to take the helm of the European Central Bank.
David Lipton assumed her duties as the IMF's Acting Managing Director on July 2, 2019 [Link] .
On August 2, 2019, the European Union nominated the former Chief Executive of the World Bank, Kristalina Georgieva, to lead the International Monetary Fund.
IMF member countries can make nominations until September 6, 2019. Once the nomination process is completed, the IMF's 24-member Executive Board will interview the nominated candidates and announce its selection by October 4, 2019 [Link]
