The King (or Yang di-Pertuan Agong) of Malaysia is elected every five years by a nine-person Conference of Rulers from nine Malaysian States, considered in the following rotation: Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Perlis, Terengganu, Kedah, Kelantan, Pahang, Johor and Perak. The present King is the Sultan of Pahang. Next in line in five years will be a sultan from Johor.
