Description |
Governor Kim Reynolds tapped attorney Adam Gregg as her acting Lieutenant Governor. Before the appointment a legal dispute emerged regarding power Reynolds would have in appointing a successor to the office she was vacating. According to Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller who's research found that an individual ascending midterm from lieutenant governor to governor, as did Reynolds, does not have the constitutional authority to appoint a new lieutenant.
Reynolds, however, disagreed and pledges to work with the Iowa legislature in provided constitutional grounds to allow Gregg to remain as acting Lieutenant Governor.
