BBC Constituency Profile:
This Suffolk seat includes the most easterly point in the UK - Ness Point, in the coastal town of Lowestoft, as well as the market towns of Beccles and Bungay, the former fishing village of Kessingland and other villages.
Waveney has suffered from decline of fishing fleet and from poor transport links. The annual air show, which boosted jobs and tourism, ended in 2012. Unemployment is high.
It is a centre for the offshore oil and gas industry and jobs are being created in the renewable energy industry, which it is hoped will also drive local regeneration.
The 2011 Census suggests there are a high proportion of apprentices but 30% of people have no qualifications at all. Waveney was held for more than 30 years by the Conservatives until Labour won it in 1997. Peter Aldous won it back for the Tories in 2010, by just 769 votes. UKIP came fourth and retained its deposit.
