Description |
In 1947, the Republicans and Democrats in Albany passed a new law which stated that no candidate could cross-file without the permission of the other party. This law was aimed at Marcantonio, who was increasingly unpopular with the two major parties. In 1948, both parties refused him access to their ballots.
In the election, Marcantonio ran solely on the ALP line and won a three-way race.
Ellis also ran on the Liberal line.
