Description |
Attlee's Limehouse constituency had become severely depopulated as a result of the Blitz and was abolished in the boundary review. Rather than contest the newly created Stepney division, he was selected as the Labour candidate in this working class suburban constituency outside the then official boundaries of London.
Hutchinson was elected from Manchester Rusholme in 1945 as a Labour candidate. He was expelled from the Labour Party in 1949 for opposing the NATO treaty.
