Description BBC Profile:
Altrincham and Sale West is the only Conservative constituency in Greater Manchester and have returned Tory MPs since World War II, mostly with sizeable majorities. Graham Brady has held the seat since 1997.
At the election, the seat loses the part-ward of Bucklow-St Martins to Stretford and Urmston.

To find out what might have happened had this boundary change been in force at the last election, see a notional - or estimated - result below.

Situated to the south of Manchester and to the north of Tatton, this is a mainly residential constituency. Towns like Hale and Bowdon are particularly popular with commuters from the professional, managerial and technical sectors who work in and around Manchester. Altrincham itself is very much a town in its own right, with a history stretching back to the thirteenth century.

Demographically, the population is predominantly white, with a significant Jewish community. As a whole, the seat is very affluent, with the numbers of managerial, white collar and professional workers well above the national average.

The MetroLink light rail system has provided a new link between Trafford and Manchester city centre. The knock-on regeneration in Trafford has created new supermarkets, office spaces and leisure facilities.

Both Altrincham and Sale have retained a traditional grammar school system.
