Norwich North is less urban than the seat covering the southern half of the city. As well as containing a considerable amount of council housing in the Mousehold area of Norwich, the constituency takes in the suburbs of Sprowston and the rural area to the north surrounding Norwich airport.
Norwich North is predominantly a residential area. The seat skirts the city centre, following the loop of the river Yare. The majority of the city's large firms lie south of this division in the Norwich South constituency, but many of Norwich North's inhabitants are employed in the city's major industries: insurance, financial services, media and manufacturing.
The area is prosperous due to many of the city's higher earners living outside the urban area of Norwich.
Norwich International Airport is north of the city centre. The airport serves around 500,000 passengers per year.
