Ashford was represented by Conservative MP Bill Deedes then Sir Keith Speed until 1997 when the current MP, Damian Green, took over.

Green currently enjoys a 13,298 vote lead over Labour, with the Liberal Democrats in third place.

Set in the Garden of England, Ashford is a picturesque constituency with a relatively large rural population scattered across its villages and market towns.

Once a quiet market town and focal point for the farming community, Ashfords location and excellent transport links have seen it develop rapidly.

Situated in the Channel Tunnel corridor, Ashford is served by the M20, the port of Dover just 20 miles away, and the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone.
