Denver, Colorado was awarded the 1976 Olympic Winter Games in May 1970. Two years later in November 1972, state voters were asked to approve a $5 million bond to finance the games. The proposed bond was rejected, thus forcing Denver to decline hosting the games which were later awarded to Innsbruck, Austria.
An Act to Amend Art. 10 and 11 to prohibit the state from levying taxes and appropriating or loaning funds for the purpose of aiding or furthering the 1976 Winter Olympic Games.
