Description |
The Republican Precinct Committeeman of the 14th Congressional District met in early April to nominate a successor for Rep. Grotberg who was on life support after suffering a stroke in January of 1986. The only candidates for the nomination were State Representative Dennis Hastert and Dr. Richard Verbic, DDS the current mayor of Elgin, Illinois.
Verbic was the popular choice amongst the District voters however the District GOP central committee select Hastert over Verbic.
