Description BBC Profile:
Dulwich and West Norwood constituency was created in 1997 and the seat has been held by Labour MP and former culture secretary Tessa Jowell since then. In 2005, she polled 45% of the vote, with the Lib Dems in second place with 24%.

Boundary changes at this election are significant: the constituency loses the Peckham Rye and The Lane wards to Camberwell and Peckham. It gains Coldharbour, Herne Hill and Thurlow Park from Streatham.

To find out what might have happened had this boundary change been in force at the last election, see a notional - or estimated - result below.

Dulwich and West Norwood straddles parts of the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, with the South Circular Road traversing the constituency from east to west.

It is a diverse seat and includes the affluent area around Dulwich Village, with its two prestigious private schools.

But there is also much council housing, for example, Gipsy Hill and across the constituency, and there is a large ethnic minority population.

Around three-fifths of school pupils come from ethnic communities, in a borough which has the largest Afro-Caribbean and the third-largest African population in the UK.
