Description The result of this election seems to be debated. Political graveyard says that Thomas Cushing was elected. The Boston MA Continental Journal stated on 11/2/1780 that Bowdoin had been elected and taken office. The Providence RI Gazette wrote on 11/8/1780 that Bowdoin had been elected but declined to serve. The Connecticut Journal of 11/16/1780 repeated that Bowdoin had declined to serve and stated that Warren had been elected.
