Description |
Senator Charles Curtis was elected the first Majority Leader for the Republican Party on March 5, 1925. Previous to this date, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge had served as the unofficial leader of the Republican Party up until his death on November 9, 1924. The Democratic Party elected an official party leader on April 27, 1920, who would become the first Minority Leader.
