| Description |
Since no one has filed, if a write-in campaign is waged, it would take 500 votes and must be the highest vote-getter, for a candidate to receive the GOP nomination.
County Councilman Matt Drozd [Link] had encouraged other Republicans in the county to write in his son's name for Allegheny County Executive.
Matt Drozd Jr. has stated that if he should win this write-in effort that he would then withdraw from the race allowing the GOP to pick a replacement.
It is speculated that the incumbent, Dan Onorato, may have also attempted to win the nomination by write-in votes.
