Description |
The first presidential primary in Pennsylvania was held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on 4/13/1912. It rained all day, but turnout was still higher than expected.
Since Pennsylvania did not have party registration at the time, voters could ask for the primary ballot of any party (but were expected to ask for the ballot of the party they last voted for). TR's managers complained that many Keystone Party voters were not allowed to vote in the Republican primary. [NYT 4/14/1912]
