Description |
Three ballots were taken. The results below reflect the results of the third and final ballot.
Sen. McKean's term expired on March 4, 1839; however, due in part to the political unrest in connection with the Buckshot War of winter 1838, the legislature did not convene to elect a successor until January 1840, with the seat remaining vacant until that time. [Link]
