Description |
In one of the most bitter House races of the year, Jim Jeffries, a 1976 Reagan delegate, narrowly defeated Democratic incumbent Martha Keys.
Jeffries used the traditional conservative route of raising tons of cash through direct mail, and attacked Keys as a supporter of big government. Keys' social liberalism was a drag here in the first Republican year since she won office in 1974, and she lost narrowly to Jeffries. His win marked the first time in the decade that the district had gone Republican.
