Description |
American Home Progressive Party National Convention
Little information is available about this political party. Its leader was Conrad Reno of Massachusetts. The party held a national convention in Springfield MA on 10/1/1928. By the time the convention was held, the party had missed the filing deadline in many states. It appears that the party did not adopt a platform.
The party nominated Henry Ford for President and Edward A. Filene MA for vice president. Filene was President of William Filene's Sons Company in Boston.
The day after the convention, Ford sent a telegram to Reno declining to run. Reno considered offering the nomination to Sen. George W. Norris, but it was already too late in the campaign. Filene later declined to run, since he had already announced his support of Alfred E. Smith for President.
