Description |
The Republican state convention on 5/15/1896 voted to fuse with the Populists and allowed the Populists to nominate a candidate for SOS to run on both tickets.
The Democrats nominated Cooke for a second term at their state convention (unanimously) on 6/25/1896.
Thompson was nominated unanimously at the Populist state convention on 8/13/1896. The Republican state executive committee met on 9/10/1896 and cross-endorsed Thompson.
