Description Sen. Jackson was appointed by Gov. Goldsborough to finish the remainder of the term for the late Sen. Raynor.

The term was cut short by passage of the 17th Amendment that called for the popular election of Senators.

A Special election was held on Nov. 4, 1913 to complete the term. Sen. Jackson was not a candidate in that election.
