| Description |
Germany does an election system called mixed member proportional. Every voter casts 2 ballots. The first for an individual member, and the second for an individual party. The most important one is the second vote. The first one has significance in that it can add extra seats to a session of the Bundestag.
Germany parties either need to win 5% of the proportional vote, or win 3 districts to gain representation in the Bundestag.
