Description Republican nomination
The Republican district convention met at Monroe on 8/5/1876 and nominated Dockery for Congress by acclamation (Charlotte Observer, 8/6/1876). He then withdrew from the race around 10/1/1876, and Jordan replaced him on the ticket soon thereafter (Raleigh Sentinel, 10/8/1876).
