Democratic nomination
The Democratic district convention met in Greensboro on 6/3/1914. The delegates nominated Stedman for another term with 395 votes to 7 scattering (Burlington Dispatch, 6/5/1914). This was the last year the Democratic congressional nominee was nominated in a convention.
Progressive nomination
The Progressive Party held its district convention in the Guilford County Court House on 7/4/1914. The delegates unanimously nominated Douglas on the first ballot (Greensboro Daily News, 7/5/1914).
