Description Special election to elect a replacement for Mayor Dick Murphy who announced he would resign effective July 15, 2005.

Initial election set by the San Diego City Council for July 26, 2005. Run-off date to be determined, but will be either Sept. 13 or Nov. 8, the date of a proposed statewide election on several unrelated ballot measures championed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The Council also will select an interim Mayor to serve between the time of Mayor Murpy's resignation and the election of new Mayor.

Poll Times: open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. PST/9 a.m. to 10 p.m. CST
