Description |
The major issue in the primary was school segregation. Preyer, supported by Gov. Sanford, preferred steps towards more desegretation. Moore wanted a slower, more moderate approach which would eventually lead to integration. While Lake was a strict segregationist, he moderated his stand slightly from his run for Governor in 1960.
