Description |
Race to succeed term-limited Governor Brendan Byrne (D).
The following vote totals are a result of a statewide recount requested by Rep. James J. Florio. The recount began Nov. 18 and formally ended Dec. 21 in an order signed by Supreme Court Justice Mark A. Sullivan.
The court noted that the recount confirmed the result of the original returns, and affirmed the Dec. 1 certification of Thomas H. Kean as Governor of the State of New Jersey.
(Taken from Fitzgerald's Legislative Manual, 1982.)
UNRECOUNTED TOTALS
Kean (R): 1,145,465
