Description |
Lt. Governor Knoll called a special election for May 17, 2005.
The seat became vacant when Democrat Jack Wagner resigned from the Senate in mid- January to assume the position of Pennsylvania State Auditor. Since Wagner was serving in the middle of a four-year Senate term, the candidate elected on May 17 will serve until Nov. 30, 2006.
Former Democrat Sam Sleva is a candidate on the "Democracy for Independence" party line.
