| Description |
Lt. Governor Knoll called a special election for May 17th, 2005.
The seat became vacant when Democrat Allyson Y. Schwartz resigned from the Senate just before being sworn in early January as a congresswoman representing parts of Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties. Since Schwartz was serving in the middle of a four-year Senate term, the candidate elected on May 17th will serve until Nov. 30, 2006.
