| Description |
The Democrats scored an impressive victory in the U.S. Senate elections of 1934. They gained a total of eleven seats (nine in regular elections and two in special elections), stripping the GOP of one third of its seats. Democrats won 23 of the races, compared to 7 for the Republicans and two others. When the Senate met, it consisted of 69 Democrats, 25 Republicans, 1 Farmer Labor, and 1 Progressive.
