Description |
U.S. Rep. Shuford was re-nominated but withdrew after the primary due his poor health. The Democrats selected Hall, a paraplegic, to be the replacement nominee on the sixth ballot. Heinz Rollman, who had mounted a significant primary challenge to Shuford, sought the nomination but was rebuffed, not receiving a single vote at the executive committee meeting on 7/31/1958. In response, Rollman joined the Republican Party.
Term end due to death.
