| Description | Coalition of six parties launched and led by Somalia's seventh President, Sheikh Sharif Ahmed (January 31, 2009 – August 20, 2012). The coalition is dominated by Sharif's party "Himilo Qaran", the "Ilays" party led by MP Abdulkadir Osoble, and the "Union for Peace and Development" led by Somalia's 8th President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud (September 10, 2012 – February 16, 2017).
Other parties in the coalition are the National Progressive Party led by former ministers Sharif Hassan and Abdiweli Haas, the Peace Party chaired by former Jubbaland president Mohamed Abdi Gandhi and the Kulan Party launched in 2018 by populist Mohamed Siriin.
Coalition was created ahead of general elections expected to be held in 2020-21 [also called the Madasha Xisbiyada Qaran (MXQ)]. |
