Jordanian branch of the Iraq-based Arab Ba'ath Party. Party began in 1940 as the pan-Arab "Arab Ihya Movement" (Harakat al-Ihya al-'Arabi) founded by Arab nationalist and philosopher Michel Aflaq, rebranding itself in 1951 the "Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party – Jordan Region." Party was legalized as the Jordanian Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party in 1993. Party is led by Akram al-Homsi [حزب البعث العربي الاشتراكي الأردني (JASBP)].
