Separatist Somali ethnic rebel group with its leadership headquartered in Kuwait and its rebel soldiers operating in Somalia with the tacit support of factions of the Somali government. Group was originally formed as the Western Somali Liberation Front in 1984 and fought against Ethiopia during the 'Ogaden' war. Group signed a peace agreement with the Ethiopian government in October 2018 and is represented in the Ethiopian federal government.
Group then formed a new political party of the same name in 2020. Party is led by a former commander of the Somali navy, Admiral Mohamed Omar Osman [known in Somali as Jabhadda Wadaniga Xoreynta Ogaadeenya].
