Neo-liberal center-right movement founded by allies of General-President Liamine Zéroual (1994-1999) who sought to manage disputes between the "reconcilers" in the military who wanted accommodation with Islamists battling the government, and "eradicators" who sought to annihilate them. Movement cheered efforts to economically modernize Algeria by nurturing private enterprise and project developments. Party's first leader was Abdelkader Bensalah, Algeria's interim President in 2019. Party has been led by its Secretary General, Mustapha Yahi, since October 14, 2023. Party holds 58 seats in 407-seal National People's Assembly [Rassemblement National Democratique (RND); التجمع الوطني الديمقراطي].
