Description | Marxist-Leninist, 'Gramscian' (following the doctrines of Antonio Gramsci) party formed by dissidents of the Party of Italian Communists (which dissolved on December 11, 2014). Party calls itself the true "revolutionary political vanguard" among Italian communist parties. Party was founded by Marco Rizzo, who has been its general secretary since its creation, as Comunisti – Sinistra Popolare, changing its name on January 17, 2014. Party had no representation in any legislative body until November 2021, when it plucked one seat in the Italian Senate after Five Star Movement dissident Emanuele Dessi switched parties.
