| Description | Center-right, Christian party led by Alfredo Mitogo Mitogo Ara. Party began in 1988 as a union of four opposition parties banned by the regime of Teodoro Obiang. Party was recognized with a handful of others in May 1992.
Party then split between a pro-government faction (chaired by Alfredo Mitogo Mitogo, who was rewarded with the job of Minister of Labor, Employment Promotion and Social Security) and a banned opposition faction (chaired by Celestino Nvo Okenve Ndo, who operates in exile).
Party collapsed into minor status since then with no representation in Parliament [Unión Popular de Guinea Ecuatorial (UP or UPGE)]. |
