Description | Once major left-wing pro-Soviet Pakistani party which became the leading opposition to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Pakistani after Pakistan broke up in the 1971 war. Party was banned by Bhutto then reinstated by Pakistani dictator Zia ul-Haq. NAP's East Pakistani/Bangladesh chapter was reconstituted as the nation's leading pro-China party starting in the 80s. Party often allies with the Communist Party of Bangladesh, itself 'Maoist' and pro-China. Party advocates for provincial autonomy in a confederal structure. |
