| Description | Leftist party established by a merger of the Peace and Democracy Movement with the defunct Communal (or Communist) Liberation. The assumption of Cemal Özyiğitas as party leader on November 17, 2013 and his alleged forceful nature drove out the TDP's first chairman, Mehmet Cakici, who tagged along with him almost half of the party to form the rival Communal (or Communist) Liberation Party New Powers (TKP-YG) on November 28, 2016. Özyiğit announced his resignation after devastating legislative election results on January 23, 2022 forced the party out of the Assembly completely for the first time in its history [Toplumcu Demokrasi Partisi (TDP); Communal Democracy Party, also known as the Communist Democracy Party]. |
