Christian democratic, right-of-center opposition party founded by a mayor of Malabo, Vitorino Bolekia.Party was banned along with many others until it was allowed to join a tamed opposition alliance called the Platform for Joint Opposition (POC), which dissolved shortly after it was born. Party then split into two factions: an opposition (led by Bolekia) and a supporter of the regime (led by Francisco Mba Olo Bahamonde). Bahamonde won out, expelling the Bolekia faction, and joined in coalition with the ruling Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) in return for top ministerial positions in the government [Alianza Demócrata Progresista (ADP)].
