Conservative party begun as a faction of the Azerbaijan Democrat Front (PFLP) which identified itself as "classically Elchibeychular" (espousing the true views of deceased PFLP leader Abulfaz Elchibey). Faction (calling itself the "Classics") was led by former PFLP chairman (2000 to 2006) Mirmahmud Miralioglu, who decided to break off to form his new party in 2006. Miralioglu became its new chairman on January 31, 2007 [Klassik Xalq Cəbhəsi Partiyası (KHC and KXCP)].
