Description | Center-left Bourguibist party co-founded by attorney Houda Knani and by television tycoon Nabil Karoui ahead of presidential elections held on September 15, 2019 and legislative elections held on October 6, 2019. Karoui lavished a great deal of his own personal fortune and reputation on what many considered a vanity project with no hope for success. To the nation's surprise, ACT took 38 seats in the Assembly of Representatives (ARP), winding up Tunisia's second-largest party with 38 seats. Personality differences with many of the party's new MPs, however, brought about mass resignations on March 10, 2020, which reduced its legislative mandate to 27 [قلب تونس; Ul en Tunest; Au cœur de la Tunisie (ACT)]. |
