| Description | Center-right rural-interests association turned party adhering to "Alkiolaisuus" (primitivist or 'back-to-the-country' simplicism), an ideology of writer-politician Santeri Alkio. Party was founded by former foreign minister, MP and prospective 2024 presidential candidate, Paavo Väyrynen. Upon witnessing the party's failure to pick up a single seat after European and national parliamentary elections in 2019, Väyrynen resigned from Seven Star on May 27, 2019, and left the party leadership to its secretary Seppo Hauta-aho. Seven Star wound up removed from the Interior Ministry's register. Väyrynen's failure to obtain the Centre Party's nod as its nominee for president in 2024, brought him back to his old home in September 2023. Star re-registered with the Ministry on September 22, 2023 and announced its intention to back Väyrynen for president and compete for seats in the 2024 European elections. Star is chaired by Eero Paavola, chief of Väyrynen's presidential election voters association [Seitsemän tähden liike or Tähtiliike (TL)]. |
