DescriptionCentrist, liberal party and the nation's largest, holding 172 seats in the 21st National Assembly. Party was founded as a union of the dissolved Democratic Party and the New Politics Alliance co-chaired by Kim Han-gil and Ahn Cheol-soo, and renamed the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) on December 28, 2015 under the leadership of South Korea's 19th President Moon Jae-in. [더불어민주당; "deobul-eominjudang"; Party takes some care to avoid legal jeopardy when calling itself the unofficial "Democratic Party," a party which was dissolved on October 19, 2016].
