| Description | Center-left party founded by Serbian academics calling themselves the "Founding Committee of the Democratic Party" (Оснивачки одбор Демократске странке). Party is one of two "democratic" parties claiming to be successors of the defunct Yugoslav Democratic Party (aka, the Democratic Community), founded on February 16, 1919 and disbanded by Tito's Communist party in 1948, the other being the center-right Democratic Party of Serbia (Демократска странка Србије, DSS), which re-emerged as the Нова демократска странка Србије, New Democratic Party, New DSS, on May 29, 2022. The DS holds ten seats in the National Assembly. Its President has been Zoran Lutovac since June 2, 2018 [Демократска странка; Demokratska stranka (DS)]. |
